WorleyParsons has been awarded the preFEED contract for the Borouge 4 Expansion project.

QP buys 30% stake from ENI in Oman's Block 52

Qatar Petroleum (QP) has acquired a 30% interest in Block 52 off Oman from Italy’s Eni. While Eni will operate the block with a 55% interest, QP will have a 30% stake and Oman Oil Company will have a 15% stake. Block 52, located offshore in the southern region of Oman, has an area of approximately 90,000 km2 with water depths ranging from 10 to over 3,000 meters.

Upper Zakum Field Production Capacity to Increase to 1mn bpd

ADNOC, ExxonMobil Abu Dhabi Offshore Petroleum Company, and INPEX Corporation have announced an agreement to increase production capacity from the Upper Zakum oil field to 1 million barrels per day by 2024. Under the agreement, ExxonMobil and INPEX have been granted a 10-year extension for the concession, which was due to expire in 2041, until 2051. The Upper Zakum oil field, located offshore Abu Dhabi, is the second largest offshore oil field and the fourth largest oil field in the world.

Aramco signs engineering and construction deals worth USD 4.5bn

Saudi Aramco has signed agreements worth USD 4.5bn with firms from Europe, USA, China and UAE for work on a range of oil & gas development projects - aimed at boosting gas production. Of the deals which were signed at a ceremony in Dhahran:

  • A deal worth c.USD 2.25bn was signed by Tecnicas Reunidas to build the North, South and Satellite Gas Compression Plants for the Hawiyah and Haradh fields which will extend plateau production for both fields for the next 20 years.
  • A contract worth c.USD 700mn was awarded to Saipem for expanding capacity at the Hawiyah gas processing plant. This plant is expected to have a total capacity of 3.86bn scf/d by 2021, when the new work is planned to be completed.
  • A contract was awarded to China Petroleum Pipelines for laying 450 km (278 miles) of gas pipelines by early 2019 to take 290mn scf/d of gas from the Haradh Field to the Hawiyah processing plant.

McDermott awarded EPCI contract in KSA

McDermott International announced a major contract award for engineering, procurement, construction and installation (EPCI) work for the Safaniya 6 project in Saudi Arabia. This project is expected to be worth more than c.USD 750mn. While the company plans to use its engineering and procurement teams in Dubai, Chennai and Al Khobar (Saudi Arabia), it plans to carry out construction works at its facilities in Dammam (Saudi Arabia) and Jebel Ali (Dubai). Work on the contract is expected to begin immediately.
