Aramco release tenders for $2bn Ras Tanura Project

emerson bpSaudi Aramco has released the commercial and technical tenders for its planned $2bn clean fuels project at its Ras Tanura refinery. 11 contractors have been prequalified to bid for the project; with 7 bidding on both packages and a further 4 bidding on only Package 2. The 7 bidding on both are: Daelim; HDEC; Samsung Engineering; GS E&C; JGC; Saipem; Tecnicas Reunidas. The 4 contractors bidding solely on Package 2 are: Daewoo E&C; Hanwha E&C; Larsen & Toubro; Petrofac. The deadline for both technical and commercial bids for both packages is May 11. Project award is expected to take place in Q3 2016, with the construction phase estimated to take 36months. Thus, project commissioning is anticipated to take place in early 2020.

The project will focus on revamping the existing facilities at the 550,000 barrel a day refinery and will also focus on adding new units to lower the sulfur and benzene content of the fuels (gasoline & diesel). The project is split into two large packages. Package 1 includes the development of a naphtha processing facility at the refinery. The scope will include the EPC of all the main technical units and power distribution and control systems. Package 2 includes offsites and utilities. Here, the scope covers tanks, substations and buildings for the project.

PetroRabigh receives bids for Rabigh Petrochem-Refining complex

petrorabighPetroRabigh has received bids from foreign engineering companies for the construction of new units at its petrochemical & refining complex in Rabigh. Tenders would include building a polyether polyols plant with annual capacity of 220,000 tonnes, a 17,000 barrel per day naphtha-treating unit to produce clean fuel and a sulphur recovery unit (SRU) with capacity of 106,000 tonnes a year.




Developers invited to submit EOI for Umm al-Quwain IWP

FEWA UAE EOIFEWA has invited developers to express interest for a planned 45 million-imperial-gallon-a-day (MIGD) independent water project (IWP) in Umm al-Quwain. The Project will comprise of the development, financing, construction (plant and associated infrastructure), operation, maintenance and ownership of a greenfield water treatment facility. Interested developers or consortiums have to submit EOI's by April 7th 2016




KNPC awards $2.93bn LNG Regasification Project

Kuwait LNG regastification KNPCKNPC has awarded a $2.93bn contract to a consortium of HDEC/HEC/Korea Gas for its LNG Regasification project. While HEC accounts for $1.39bn of the deal, HDEC and Korea Gas account for $1.52bn and $120mn respectively. This consortium will construct re-gasification facilities and LNG tanks in Al-Zour. While HEC will be in charge of the re-gasification facility that can process 3 billion cubic meters of gas per day, HDEC will be in charge of building 8 LNG tanks (with a capacity of 225,000 cubic meters each) and docking facilities. The construction period is expected to be 58 months and is scheduled to be completed by 2020.
