Oman to award another oil block

emerson bpOman’s Ministry of Oil & Gas is planning to award another onshore oil block to an international oil company on a production sharing basis in the Al Wusta region this year. The announcement of awarding another concession (which is in advanced stages) came soon after awarding Block 7 to Omani company – Hydrocarbon Finder. The main aim of this company will be to revamp production from the existing oilfield.



Shell pulls out of USD 10bn Bab Sour Gas Field Development

shell-bab-uae-abu-dhabiShell has withdrawn from U.A.E.’s Bab Sour Gas field development project worth USD 10bn due to technical challenges and costs. The Bab field which is approximately 150 km south-west of Abu Dhabi city, is the largest onshore field in the emirate, based on total area. While it contains both oil and gas reservoirs, its gas is sour and thus contains a high amount of hydrogen sulphide, which is difficult and expensive to process.



JGC wins USD 355mn gas plant project in Bahrain

 Bahrain MMSCFDJGC has won a contract worth $355mn by Bahrain National Gas Company to build gas plant in Bahrain. This gas plant will recover for export liquefied petroleum gas and naphtha from associated gases released when extracting crude oil. This plant is expected to have a daily processing capacity of 350 MMSCFD and will be located in the Bahrain oil field area, south of Awali. The project is expected to take 32 months for completion.



Saipem signs MoU for Iran refinery work

Saipem iran refinerySaipem has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) regarding potential cooperation on major pipeline and refining projects in Iran. The MoU, which was signed with the National Iranian Gas Company (NIGC), is aimed at Saipem’s potential cooperation in NIGC pipeline projects - including IGAT9 and IGAT11 - which cover 1800km. The second MoU, signed with Parsian Oil & Gas Development Company, is aimed at Saipem’s potential cooperation in revamping and upgrading the Pars Shiraz and Tabriz refineries.
